The desire for a truly well behaved pet has been around as long as dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) themselves. Since man first domesticated the wolf into a pet so many years ago and became both master and friend of this magnificent animal, we have had the desire to make this most loyal of friends more obedient and bend to our will. Dogs have been known to lay down their very lives for their masters and their masters have at times placed their own lives at risk rescuing their beloved companions from certain peril.
With all this mutual affection and appreciation it seems almost ridiculous that humans are sometimes driven to near insanity by the misdeeds and misbehaviors of their four legged friends. Nonetheless quite often such is sadly the case. Fortunately man has had time to study the problem of dog obedience, dog behavior, and dog training to the point that a well behaved companion can enjoy a great relationship with his master and vise versa.
